Up for sale is a fantastic antique American impressionist oil painting landscape depicting a small house atop a hill covered by white flowered trees with an old wood bridge, flowing stream, and white flowers. The painted is executed in an almost pointillist manner more so seen in the sky and large tree that takes up the upper left half of the painting and the artist used a nice array of color. Signed in the lower right corner “Nash” a date is present just below but I am unable to tell if it reads “22” or “32”. This work is an absolute beauty and well painted of which I particularly love the brushwork and fine little yellow white flowers that dot the foreground. The impressionist quality of the work adds fine texture and motion especially to the running stream. The canvas measures approximately 16 x 20 inches while its wood frame measures 22 x 26 inches. The painting is in good condition other than a scratch (shown in image 6) that runs 2 inches long. Fortunately this is not easy to spot and would be a rather easy fix. Other than this the appropriate amount of craquelure is present given this painting dates to c. 1930 and is ready to be hung and enjoyed. The back of the canvas has been covered with archival foam core and a label verso indicates this work was sold through The St. Augustine Gallery; I attempted to call to get any additional information on the work but they have since closed. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine antique American oil painting by Nash but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
